Semta offers free skills and funding support at Aero Engineering Show 2010
Semta will offer free skills advice and support to help aerospace and composites employers at Aero Engineering Show get a return on investment from training.
Semta, the employer-led Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies, will be on stand number 750. Advisers will offer guidance to employers on how to get return from investment in skills and access funding in order to remain competitive in the current difficult economic climate.
Skills experts will be on hand to offer advice on National Skills Academy for Manufacturing quality assured training programmes developed to beat the sector’s skills gaps and meet companies business objectives. These range from masters degrees, through National Vocational Qualifications in Business-Improvement Techniques and Leadership and Management, to a cost-effective e-learning centre with over a 1,000 courses ranging from Overcoming the Fear of Presentations, Environmental Legislation and Policy to Six Sigma.
Semta has a proven track record in providing an end-to end service, having supported some 2000 aerospace and defence employees to start qualifications with some £2.8 million of funding.

Its aim is to identify critical issues that affect the sector, agree strategic priorities to resolve skills mismatches and to ensure the employers’ voice is heard at local and national government level. Semta has also established a composites strategy group which brings together a number of sectors including aerospace.
