Established in 1984 and now a first-time exhibitor at Aero Engineering, XYZ Machine Tools Ltd will be demonstrating three machines from its extensive range of ProtoTRAK-equipped CNC/manual milling machines and lathes and Siemens CNC-equipped machining centres and turning machines.

Continuing development backs up the Burlescombe, Devon, company’s claim that when it comes to cutting metal, especially in prototype and low volume applications, it offers a cost-effective and competitive route to increasing productivity, reducing costs and combating skills shortages. In fact, the product portfolio ranges from manual machine tools through to large capacity CNC bridge mills and extra large (up to 12 metres between centres) CNC lathes and CNC oil country lathes with a 410 mm spindle bore, all backed by a full warranty and nationwide service.

On Stand 601 at Aero Engineering 2010 will be a 5 hp variable speed (40-5000 rev/min) head XYZ ProtoTRAK SMX 3500 bed mill; a 10 hp 25-2500 rev/min XYZ ProTURN SLX 425 gap bed lathe (available with either 1250 mm or 2000 mm between centres); and a 20 hp 5-8000 rev/min XYZ 710 VMC vertical machining centre. The two ProtoTRAK-equipped machine tools feature the latest generation version of an easy-to-program CNC/manual control that has over 45,000 users worldwide, while the XYZ 710 VMC is available with the new Siemens Sinumerik 828D conversational control that guarantees mirror smooth surfaces with minimum machining times. All Siemens controls fitted to XYZ machining centres and turning machines feature ShopMill/ShopTurn sequence programming and can therefore be easily programmed without any ‘G coding’ knowledge…and programming can also be done off-line using CADCAM or other applications.

This XYZ ProTURN SLX 425 CNC/manual lathe is available with either 1250 mm or 2000 mm between centres.
